Day Twenty

February 20, 2008

“To be great, one does not have to be mad, but definitely it helps.”
Percy Cerutty

We have some new people and lets face it, swimming is not a very social sport, so if you have a couple minutes, tell us a few things about yourself.

What do you hope to gain from this challenge? Why are you doing it?  Are you a triathlete or just a swimmer? How did you find out about it?  Is this your first year? Are your arms sore yet?

  1. 3000 yards this morning – Visser

  2. 3000 yards Kentwood

Here’s the about me part. I’m using this as an excuse to be in the pool every day. I did swim prior to the challenge about 5 times a week, so this just made me get there the other two days. I am trying to be a triathlete, I did 3 last year and loved them. The swimming part comes natural as swimming is what I did to pay for college. This year I plan to do 6 tri’s, and the river bank run. No my arms are not sore yet. Next we need to do a run challenge. That would be SWEET!

  3. 2500 yards at Visser.

  4. 1500 yards DDHY

  5. 1250 yards then I got kicked out for an aerobics class!! At Visser

  6. 4000 yards at Zeeland High School.

  7. February 5,7,&9 2,000 yards each of these days
    February 20 2,250 yards.

    All at the Visser Pool

  8. I went to the DDH Y later last night and did about 1000 yards. The whole time trying to remember the stuff Becca told me to do. It’s still slower than the way I used to swim but I can definitely tell that it will be faster and use less energy once I get used to it. Now it’s slower and takes more energy.
I,m new to swimming and want to get into trying a tri. I’ve done a few marathons and they don’t seem like a big deal anymore. At my age, a new challenge is good.

  9. 2000 yards at DDHY with Matt

  10. 1500 yards at the DDHY after work

  11. 2000 yards at the DDH YMCA mid afternoon – ran 5 miles right after – I HATE treadmills!

Got into running about 6 years ago as a way to lose weight and then someone said, “Lets Try a Tri” and I was hooked. Just upgraded my bike (Thanks Phil) and looking forward to this season. I was on the swim team in High School (1.5 years) but I did the 50 yard free, so was not into distance (except practices). I love the variety of the Triathlon and have done several so far including the Steelhead Half Ironman. I think I can do it better next time (that seems to be my motto). I am getting closer to thinking about deciding that I might maybe one day seriously consider a full Ironman. Which is a shave this side of NEVER, and I suppose thats all it takes. Seeya in the pool!
